Tufts Presence
Tufts has expanded its presence in China by offering student exchange and programs abroad, as well as many collaborations with leading educational institutions and faculty. Tufts Programs Abroad at the School of Arts and Sciences offer a semester long Tufts-in-China program located at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. The school is also a member of the Consortium of China Cooperative Language & Study Programs that sponsors study abroad programs in Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai and Taipei. As a member of the Chinese Studies Cooperative Program, the School of Arts and Sciences also provides students with year-long programs in Xian and Taichung. In addition, The Fletcher School will be offering student exchange programs at some of the top educational institutions in China and Hong Kong. The Fletcher, Cummings, Friedman, Dental and Medical Schools have also developed strong research collaborations with leading Chinese universities.
China has a strong and growing presence at Tufts with the highest representation among the international student body for the 2006-07 academic year. There are 120 Chinese students across the different schools, though majorities are found at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School of Engineering - 38% and 48%, respectively. There are a variety of student groups, such as the Chinese Students Association, at the School of Arts and Sciences that foster and promote Chinese culture and traditions. Among all the schools, The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and the School of Arts and Sciences have the highest number of alumni in China.
